The Briesacher-Hayes Farm has a long lineage indeed. The beginning of the lineage in the United States started with Johannes Briesacher who immigrated to America in 1828 through New York with his wife, and six sons from Offwiller, Alsace, France. In about 1832 they settled in St. Clair County, Illinois which itself started as a french fur trading post. The Briesachers settled in the following towns in St. Clair County: Centreville, which is currently the charming town of Millstadt; Georgetown, which is currently the town of Smithton; Belleville Praire, which was annexed by the city of Belleville. The later is where our farm is located. One Briesacher son settled in Ashley which is located in Washington County, Illinios.
The second line, which is the Hayes, has the beginning in the United States when Mr. Hayes immigrated to the United States around 1900. The Hayes line is from Limmerick, Ireland. Many of the the Hayes ancestors are buried at the Limmerick Cemetary in Limmerick, Ireland. They American Hayes are mostly buried in Black Hawk County, Iowa.
The two families merge with Patrican Ann Briesacher married Robert Hayes on November, 1962 at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, IL. Their son Michael William Hayes bought the family farm from his materal grandmother Viriginia Briesacher in October 2003.
Please be patient as we add more history and genealogy on a regular basis.
We at here at the Briesacher-Hayes Farm believe genealogy should be shared freely. We did not pick and plan our ancestors vital dates, we did not work and pay for their necessities of living, we did not give birth and raise their children for them, we did not do all the hard labour and generations of laundry, all which make up the stories of their lives. Our ancestors did and we will not profit off of them. Yes, we have spent hundreds of dollars, thus far, to obtain records and sources and we are sharing freely what we have obtained with you. Please do the same and share what you have gathered. Of course, there will be free loaders who take all and give nothing back and we refuse to be one of them. We are strong enough to make history without them and because we got down and personal with our family history we will forever be changed. We are simply the record keepers for the generation and together we can create history.
