The other half of the Briesacher-Hayes family lineage is the HAYES ancestry. Our Hayes line starts in Rathkeale, Limmerick, Ireland, when Paul Hayes married Mary Downey in County Limmerick, Ireland.
To them were born five children, three sons and two daughters. One of Paul and Mary Hayes' son was Thomas who was born in Crough and through whom we have our lineage. Paul died in County Limmerick, Ireland leaving his widow and children.
On 12 April 1861, Thomas J. Hayes married Margaret Frawley at St. Mary's Church in Rathkeale, County Limmerick, Ireland. A few days later they left for America. His mother Mary (Downey) Hayes joined them on their journey to America. She was 50 years old. She is buried in the Hayes family burial plot in the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery in Blessing, Black Hawk County, Iowa.
Her tombstone simpley reads "Mother".
Thomas and Margaret Hayes had six children, one of which died in infancy. Their second child and first son, John F. Hayes, continues our lineage when he married Ellen McBride on 5 February 1890 (pictures on right). From this union seven children were born.
John and Ellen's last son, Edward Leo Hayes married Agnella Marie Striegel on 8 February, 1918 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa. From this union five children were born. Their youngest son Robert Hayes married Patricia Briesacher and they had two chidren Michael and Christina. Michael is the current owner of the Briesacher-Hayes Farm.
Many of the our Hayes ancestors are buried at the Limmerick Cemetery in Limmerick, Ireland and Blessing , Black Hawk County, Iowa, United States.
